How does it work?

AirTag sends out a secure Bluetooth signal that can be detected by nearby devices in the Find My network. These devices send the AirTag's location to iCloud, and you can see it on the Find My map. The whole process is anonymous and encrypted to protect your privacy.

Lost Mode makes finding items even easier.

Like other Apple devices, your AirTag can be put into Lost Mode. When the tracker is detected by a device on the network, you'll get an automatic notification. You can also set it up so that someone who finds it can get your contact information by tapping the AirTag with an NFC-capable smartphone.

Built-in privacy protection

Only you can see where your AirTag is on the map. Your location data and history are not stored on the AirTag itself. Devices that relay its location are encrypted at every step. So even Apple doesn't know where your AirTag is or the identity of the reporting device.
