Apraksts
From February 1, 2017, WE WILL EXTEND THE WARRANTY OF SKY-WATCHER TELESCOPES TO 5 YEARS!
Electronic and drive components are covered by a 2-year warranty.
The Sky Watcher BK1149EQ2 telescope stands out for its exceptional price, mobility and extensive equipment. It is an ideal model to introduce you to the world of amateur astronomy and is often chosen as the first telescope in the family.
Due to its short focal length, it offers a wide field of view, which is important for the first observations. This makes it easy to point the telescope at an object and track it.
Optical system
Reflecting telescope (Newtonian system). Thanks to well-balanced light intensity, the telescope allows observation of nebulae, as well as planetary objects and lunar craters. The main advantage of this telescope is the large 114 mm mirror, which is the most important element of the telescope, determining what and how we will be able to observe. At night, this telescope collects about 190 times more light than the human eye, so it can be used to observe objects with a brightness of almost 12th magnitude (naked-eye visibility reaches up to 6th magnitude). The size of the mirror is also related to the optical resolution, which in this telescope allows seeing stars more than 1.2 inches apart.
Mounting
The EQ2 equatorial mount with slow-motion controls allows you to adjust the telescope according to an atlas or sky map and to move smoothly along the right ascension and declination axes. This is an improved head with a higher load capacity and better stability than the EQ1, especially recommended for longer telescope tubes with a focal length of 900 mm. The mount must be properly aligned and aligned with the celestial north pole so that we can easily control the telescope. The mount can be equipped with drives that allow it to automatically track an object in the sky.
Focuser and eyepieces
The telescope has an eyepiece focuser that allows the use of 1.25-inch eyepieces. The kit includes two eyepieces with focal lengths of 10 and 25 mm, providing 36 and 90 times magnification, and a 2x Barlow lens, with which you can get additional 72 and 180 times magnifications.
Astronomical observations
1. Solar System
- objects on the lunar surface larger than 1–2 km;
- Sunspots and their structure;
- all planets of the Solar System;
- phases of Venus
- the disk of Mars
- the equatorial belts of Jupiter and the Galilean moons
- the rings of Saturn and its largest moon Titan
- Uranus and Neptune are also within the operating range of this telescope.
- the motion of asteroids against the background of stars
- observations of bright comets, e.g. comet ISON
2. Stars
- Across the entire sky there are about 1.8 million stars with a brightness of about 12–12.5 magnitude
- double and multiple stars separated by an angular distance greater than 1.5 inches.
- the colors of many bright stars
3. Nebular objects
- Most Messier objects are within the operating range of this telescope, including:
- hundreds of open star clusters
- many globular clusters with clearly visible stars at their edges
- dozens of galaxies, many of which have a visible shape
- many bright nebulae where structure is already visible
- beautiful planetary nebulae
Ground observations
A telescope with this type of optics is not suitable for ground observations. To invert the image, use a so-called erecting lens, thanks to which we can invert the image to its natural (upright) state.
