Apraksts
FROM FEBRUARY 1, 2017, WE ARE EXTENDING THE WARRANTY OF "SKY-WATCHER" TELESCOPES UP TO 5 YEARS!
Electronic and drive components are covered by a 2-year warranty.
The "Sky Watcher BK1149EQ1" telescope offers exceptional value, convenient portability and a wide range of functions. It is an ideal start in amateur astronomy and a popular choice as a first telescope for the family.
Due to the short focal length, the telescope offers a wide field of view – an important feature when making first observations. This makes it easy to point the telescope at an object and track it.
Optical system
Reflecting telescope (Newtonian system). Due to the well-balanced focal length ratio, the telescope allows observation of nebulae, planetary objects and lunar craters. The main advantage of this telescope is the large 114 mm mirror – the most important element of the telescope, determining what and how we can observe. At night, this telescope collects about 190 times more light than the human eye, so objects up to almost 12th magnitude can be observed (naked-eye visibility reaches up to 6th magnitude). The size of the mirror also determines the optical resolution, which in this telescope allows distinguishing stars more than 1.2 inches apart from each other.
Mounting
The EQ1 equatorial mount with fine-motion function allows the telescope to be aligned according to an atlas or star chart, as well as to move it smoothly along the right ascension and declination axes. The mount must be properly aligned and adjusted to the celestial north pole so that the telescope is easy to control. The mount can be equipped with motors that allow automatic tracking of objects in the sky.
Focuser and eyepieces
The telescope has a focuser that allows the use of 1.25-inch eyepieces. The kit includes two eyepieces with focal lengths of 10 and 25 mm, providing 36 and 90x magnification, and a 2x Barlow lens, which can be used to obtain additional 72 and 180x magnifications.
Astronomical observations
1. Solar System
- objects on the lunar surface larger than 1–2 km;
- Sunspots and their structure;
- all planets of the Solar System;
- phases of Venus
- the Martian disk
- Jupiter's equatorial belts and Galilean moons
- Saturn's rings and its largest moon Titan
- Uranus and Neptune are also within the operating range of this telescope.
- the motion of asteroids against the background of stars
- observations of bright comets, e.g. comet ISON
2. Stars
- Across the entire sky there are about 1.8 million stars with brightness ranging up to about 12–12.5 magnitude
- double and multiple stars separated by an angular distance greater than 1.5 inches.
- the colors of many bright stars
3. Nebular objects
- Most Messier objects are within the operating range of this telescope, including:
- hundreds of open star clusters
- many globular clusters with clearly visible stars at their edges
- dozens of galaxies, many of which have visible shapes
- many bright nebulae in which structure is already visible
- beautiful planetary nebulae
Terrestrial observations
A telescope with this type of optics is not suitable for terrestrial observations. To invert the image, a so-called erect image lens must be used, which flips the image to its natural (vertical) form.
