Ethos 10 mm okulāri

TeleVue Ethos eyepieces debuted on the market in 2007 and represent the pinnacle of achievement by the well-known American optics manufacturer. Compared to the already very good Naglers, Ethos eyepieces are significantly better and prove that much can still be done in optics. The biggest impression here is made by the huge 100-degree field of view, allowing large areas of the sky to be covered without necessarily using minimal magnification. As with previous TeleVue models, Ethos works excellently in short-focal-length reflecting telescopes; correction of optical aberrations across the field of view is beyond doubt. Correction of geometric distortion is undeniably better than with the Naglers; there is no distortion or color shift at the edges of the image, which will certainly be a big plus when observing the lunar disk. Ethos is an extraordinary eyepiece; with its huge field of view, it somewhat changes our ideas and habits regarding the choice of focal length and magnification.

On the one hand, it is worth mentioning that the 21 mm Ethos sees approximately the same area of sky as a 33 mm SWAN eyepiece or a 40 mm Plossl eyepiece, but guarantees a much darker sky background and, due to the different magnification, greater image detail. On the other hand, an impressive example: we insert an 8 mm Ethos eyepiece into a 12-inch Synta focuser. With a focal length of 1500 mm, we get a fairly significant magnification of 187x. With the eyepiece's 100-degree field, we get a real 0.53-degree field of view – with this almost planetary magnification, you can fit the entire lunar disk into the field of view!

Ethos eyepieces are supplied with focal lengths of 3.7 mm, 4.7 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, 13 mm, 17 mm, and 21 mm. All of them are manufactured using multilayer anti-reflective coatings, and the optical system also uses special baffles that block stray light reflections. Thanks to the appropriate eye relief, observations can be made comfortably regardless of the eyepiece's focal length.
