The MINISFORUM N5 Air is an advanced NAS server designed for users who need large storage capacity, high performance, and modern expansion options. This model, equipped with an AMD Ryzen™ 7 255 processor and the proprietary MinisCloud OS, is an ideal central hub for file storage, backups, multimedia streaming, virtualization, and Docker containers. This design supports up to 174 TB of total storage, providing enormous flexibility for building a reliable private data cloud.
Powerful computing power
Smooth operation is guaranteed by the AMD Ryzen™ 7 255 processor with 8 cores and 16 threads, with a configurable TDP ranging from 45 W to 55 W. This configuration ensures high performance, allowing multiple services to run simultaneously, supporting virtual machines, Docker containers, and efficient video transcoding. The integrated AMD Radeon™ 780M graphics chip enables graphics tasks and connecting high-resolution monitors, making the device a versatile workstation for everyday use.
Large storage capacity
The MINISFORUM N5 Air offers exceptionally flexible storage options. Five SATA 3.0 bays support 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch drives with capacities of up to 30 TB each, while three M.2 2280/22110 NVMe PCIe 4.0 slots allow the installation of high-speed SSDs with capacities of up to 8 TB each. Together, this allows for up to 174 TB of total system capacity. Support for RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 6 lets you tailor the configuration to specific needs, whether you prioritize maximum speed or advanced data protection.
High-performance memory and expansion options
The device has two SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 96 GB of DDR5 non-ECC memory at 5600 MT/s, ensuring fast data access even under heavy workloads. Additional expansion options are provided by an internal PCIe 4.0 x16 (electrically x4) connector and an OCuLink port, allowing connection of specialized expansion cards and external accessories.
Lightning-fast network connectivity
Dual LAN ports with 10 GbE and 5 GbE bandwidth ensure extremely fast data transfer on the local network, which is essential when handling large files, creating backups, or streaming high-speed media. MinisCloud OS offers advanced data management, including ZFS file system support, snapshots for data loss protection, and real-time LZ4 compression. The system also supports Docker containers with user isolation and secure remote access, and also allows installation of Windows 11 Pro or Linux.
Wide port selection and practical design
The chassis includes two USB4 ports with DisplayPort 2.0 support, two USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, a USB 2.0 port, HDMI 2.1, and an OCuLink connector. This allows connecting up to three monitors with resolutions up to 8K at 60 Hz. The 199 × 202 × 252 mm chassis features a pull-out design that provides easy access for drive and memory upgrades. Two 9225 axial fans ensure efficient cooling, while front-panel LEDs indicate system status, network activity, and the status of each hard drive.
