QiDi Box multi-spool system for Max 4 series

The QIDI Box for the Max 4 series is a multi-spool system with 4 independent channels, designed for color printing and use with various types of materials. The device supports 1.75 mm filaments, automatic spool changing, drying up to 65 °C during printing, temperature and humidity monitoring, and smart QIDI filament recognition via NFC. One QIDI Box holds 4 spools, and by expanding the system to 4 devices you can use up to 16 colors or materials, allowing you to complete more complex projects without frequent manual filament changes.

Four independent channels and dual gearboxes

The filament feeding system uses dual hardened steel gearboxes and four separate 42-type stepper motors—one for each channel. The design is suited to both popular filaments and more demanding composite materials reinforced with carbon or glass fiber. QIDI Box supports, among others, PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PET, PA, PC, PVA and BVOH (after drying), PP, POM, HIPS, TPU 64D, and certain CF and GF materials.

Drying up to 65 °C and humidity control

QIDI Box allows simultaneous drying and printing of filaments, with a maximum drying temperature of 65 °C. The hermetic storage compartment, together with the ability to use a moisture-absorbing material, helps minimize the effect of moisture on filaments, which is especially important for hygroscopic materials. Temperature and humidity are monitored in real time, and their values can be viewed on the screen and in the QIDI Studio software.

Automatic spool changing and problem detection

The automatic filament refill function switches feeding to a backup spool when the currently used material runs out. This solution reduces the risk of unnecessary interruptions during long prints and allows more efficient use of the material remaining on spools. The system also monitors for filament runout, tangling, and clogs, so it can respond appropriately to filament feeding problems.

NFC and printing with support materials

NFC support allows automatic recognition of compatible QIDI filaments and adjustment of their settings without manually entering parameters. The multi-material capability of QIDI Box also allows the use of a separate support filament, including materials designed to be easily broken away or dissolved, which facilitates printing models with more complex geometry. However, PVA and BVOH materials must be properly dried before use.

Compatibility and safety measures

Not every 1.75 mm filament is compatible with QIDI Box. Among others, the system does not support TPE, standard TPU, TPU 95A, QIDI PAHT-CF, wet PVA and BVOH, certain Silk filaments—including PLA Silk—and glow-in-the-dark PLA and other materials that are too rigid or too flexible. The device also has a smart PTC fuse and two temperature sensors that monitor operating conditions and automatically disconnect the power source if an abnormal temperature is detected.
