To turn on the calculator, press the ON key; when turned on, the number 0 will appear on the screen 2. If no actions are performed within 10 min., the calculator turns off automatically BASIC INFORMATION - Keys [ MATH ] and [ LINE ] – mathematical or linear format - Inscriptions on the keys – these are functions or input data that are entered in calculations - [ SHIFT ] and [ ALPHA ] keys provide the ability to use the second function. The second function is marked above the key. Color-marked keys work as follows: - the key color is the same as the [ SHIFT ] key – when the [ SHIFT ] key is pressed, the function is accessible - the key color is the same as the [ ALPHA ] key – when the [ ALPHA ] key is pressed, the function is accessible - keys [ i ] and [ ( ) ] are the same color – the ability to switch to CMPLX mode to gain access to the function. - the key color is the same as [ DEC ] – the ability to switch to BASE-n mode The cursor [ ] key is marked with four arrows pointing in four directions. You will see the arrows on the screen. PURPOSE OF KEYS AND SWITCHES For compactness, several calculator keys have multiple functions. [ SHIFT ] and [ ALPHA ] Second function selection key. [ ON/OFF ] Calculator on and screen clear key [MR] Memory function recall key [+/-] Sign change key [X®M] Key to record the operations on the screen. Previously recorded data in memory is erased [M+] Key to add the total result to memory. [SHIFT][CONST] Key to record constants in memory [SHIFT][p] Key to enter this symbol [SHIFT][®°, ,,] Conversion of angles in degrees to a decimal fraction SHIFT][FIX] Decimal point position setting key [SHIFT][%] Percentage calculation key [sin, cos, tan] Sine, cosine, tangent calculation keys. [SHIFT][ex] [ln] Logarithm and exponential calculation key [√] Square root calculation key [RUN] Key to run a saved program The key markings in this instruction are for informational purposes and may differ from the actual key markings. SCREEN SYMBOLS The symbols that light up on the screen indicate calculator operations. DEG, RAD, GRAD - singular unit M - a value is stored in the calculator memory A - ALPHA input mode is on. Pressing this key again will turn this mode off and the indicator will disappear S - the additional function key SHIFT is on. Pressing this key again will turn this function off and the indicator will disappear STO - the calculator is waiting for you to enter a variable name to assign a value to it. This entry appears when [SHIFT] RCL(STO) is pressed RCL - variable recall mode, shown when the RCL key is pressed STAT - statistical mode is on CMPLX - CMPLX mode is on MAT - MATRIX mode is on VCT - VECTOR mode is on D - the default angle unit is degrees R - the default angle unit is radians G - the default angle unit is grads FIX - indicates a fixed number of decimal places SCI - indicates a fixed number of significant digits Math - natural display mode is selected Disp - the displayed value is an intermediate result when calculating multiple expressions ( ) - calculation with parentheses HYP – hyperbolic mode is on CALCULATION MODES COMP - basic calculations, including scientific CMPLX - complex number calculations STAT - statistical and regression calculations BASE-n - calculations involving binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal number systems EQN - simultaneous linear equations MATRIX - matrix calculations TABLE - table mode of a defined function VECTOR - vector calculations
