F-16 in the Norwegian Air Force

Norway was a pioneer of the European F-16 procurement and co-production program. On July 21, 1975, Norway, together with Belgium, the Netherlands, and Denmark, signed a contract for the purchase of modern multirole fighters. The chosen aircraft was the American F-16 "Fighting Falcon", which revolutionized modern aviation with its maneuverability, modern avionics, and relatively low operating costs.

More than four decades of service!

Norwegian F-16s differed from other aircraft of this type by their light gray paint scheme, the Norwegian flag on the tail, and a unique numbering system linked to American numbers. Norway's short, snow-covered, and often scattered runways required their F-16s to be equipped with drag chutes to handle situations where conventional wheel brakes could not be used.

Over more than four decades of service, Norwegian F-16s participated in many important international operations under NATO auspices, including Kosovo, Afghanistan, Libya, and patrolling Baltic airspace as part of NATO Baltic Air Policing.

After 42 years of service, the last Norwegian F-16 flight took place on January 6, 2022. Although the aircraft were retired from active service, many remained operational and found a second life – some went to Romania, others were sold to training companies.

This set combines high-quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a fascinating story that you can literally build with your own hands.

The COBI Norwegian colors F-16 "Fighting Falcon" is an excellent choice for military aviation fans, collectors, and enthusiasts of modern history. It is not only an impressive exhibit but also a valuable educational toy.

Whether you are a teenager, an adult modeler, or looking for the perfect gift for someone, this set will be an excellent choice.
